Gears of War 3
I know not everyone is ready to see the change, but the Beta Rolls out on Monday the 18th for BULLETSTORM EPIC EDITON owners.
Those of you that have Pre-ordered the actual game, and do not own the Bulletstorm game, you will get to start playing it on the 25th.
The Beta will run through May 15th... Exact details about the game modes are sparse, but I expect everyone to be ACE at the maps by the end of the Beta.

So who's played the beta? It's fun though I am horrible. Never really played much gears versus. Will play more and looking forward to the other maps and gametypes.

I've been playing every night, so far the only other Apex I've played with has been Sokar.
I'll be on tonite, hope to see some of you there.
I might add that I'm sucking at it too, don't know if I'm rusty or learning the maps and item locations but it seems that at every turn I'm getting torn up by shotguns.

What I find completely unbelievable is that at around 1pm Monday there were people on who were already level 28. How, that is all I want to know.
I will try to be on some tonight. If anything I will be on Friday and Saturday night to play with whoever wants to get a few rounds in. I'm able to stay up later weekends.

There are a few PRO players that received VIP versions of the Beta...
These versions also give them extra maps early, along with the beta a few weeks early.
as a side note... If I am not asleep the second I get home, I will try to play for a short bit tonight... Not promising I will be on after 11, but I will definitely be on at some point.

So far I'm loving the beta. TDM is something I've wanted in Gears since day one. No more dieing 30 seconds in and waiting 10 minute to play again.
The only thing I'm not that fond about is the spawns. But the only level I've had a real problem with them is Trenches because of the mortar. Easily fixed by making the respawn time on it a little longer.
Over all I dont think they will make to many tweaks before the final product. Maybe decrease he spread on the double barrel shotty and maybe nerf the retro just a hair. But if they left it all the same I would not complain

So far... Bad news... I'm not gonna lie...
I really do NOT like it at all.
I feel more like I am playing Unreal Tournament.
I used to prefer the " YOU ARE DEAD, DEAL WITH IT" aspect... this just seems to give people the chance to spawn... run to their spot and get two kills... move to the opposite side of that spot, and get revenge kills... and then get killed by three people shooting him at once.
The graphics are extremely dull, and disappoint me, over the previous games... which I find to be vastly superior in gameplay and visuals.
The weapons seem to be extremely useless... requiring you to get in close, and the sniping is still really bad.
Overall... I am still planning on getting the game, primarily for the campaign... but at the moment, if the game is going to be more weighted to MP... I would have to pass on it completely.

Yep... my opinion is still the same...
Even after playing with the PRE-ORDER NOOBS... and completely trouncing them... I do not like the Competitive mode of this game.
I know we will end up play CO-OP for the most part, so I am still interested in owning the game... but things like Netcode, and Close quarters combat, fail at drawing me into the game.
I would have liked to see this game take a step forward in weaponry, but when the only time the game feels gratifying to me, is when I am 2 feet away from my target... which in pretty much every other game, I would stab them and move on... not accidentally run past them which trying to turn around to get my shot off.
As always, the game is fun for the first round, but having to play a match for 30 minutes becomes a chore more than competition.... and has already found me staring at Ebay for latter parts of the match...
My final verdict on the Beta... I will probably play it a few more times just to get the flame camos... and even though I would like to have the Gold Retro... its just not going to happen.

The gold retro lancer is not hard to come by, I just kept using it even tho' I initially thought it sucked. Stick to it and you'll have it in no time .
