Will I be finally able to rid myself of cable? I already lowered my package recently due to financial woes, a la carte would have been nice but the cable companies dismissed us on that one... And I still have a ton of sports channels that I don't watch.
Not a whole lot has been said on this so we shalll see...
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Live television is landing on the Xbox 360. Microsoft Corp. announced plans to bring live TV and YouTube to the video game console at a press conference kicking off the Electronic Entertainment Expo, the gaming industry's annual convention. The company says live TV would be offered by domestic and international broadcasters but no other details were revealed. Partnerships with international broadcasters currently bring live TV to the Xbox 360 in the United Kingdom, Australia and France, but the service unveiled Monday would be the first such offering available on a gaming console in the United States. Xbox 360 and Sony Corp.'s PlayStation 3 already offer the ability to stream and download movies and shows.

Well now that I have my internet fully back I guess I can start posting again. Anyways I'm not sure the service will be all that much cheaper then what you'll end up paying for cable. If anything it will be competitive in it's pricing. I'm still interested to see if or what they will be doing with it up here. Right now my ISP is the only one to offer IP-TV and has been for a number of years. With that service we're able to use our 360's to stream and record live TV. So it'll be interesting to see if this service will tie in or not. However we'll just have to wait and see, as we don't have many details about it yet. Will I be finally able to rid myself of cable? I already lowered my package recently due to financial woes, a la carte would have been nice but the cable companies dismissed us on that one... And I still have a ton of sports channels that I don't watch. Why not just cut the cord and be done with it? I've been without cable now for what 11+ years, and I could care less.

Yea I'm pushing a year without cable. Have rabbit ears for local which comes in great. Then hulu plus no need for cable these days. Hence the reason the price on it keeps going up.

"Why not just cut the cord and be done with it? I've been without cable now for what 11+ years, and I could care less." If I lived alone I would in a heartbeat, but as it is right now the moaning and groaning I hear borders on unbearable...
